Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement

This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement is issued by Man with Van Putney for the financial year ending 31 December and sets out the steps we take to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within our operations and supply chains. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all business relationships and to implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure modern slavery is not taking place.

Our Business and Supply Chain

Man with Van Putney provides local and regional transport, removals, and associated logistics services. Our operations involve direct employees, contracted drivers, and a range of suppliers, including vehicle hire companies, fuel providers, equipment suppliers, cleaning and maintenance contractors, and occasional labour agencies. We recognise that elements of the logistics and transport sector may be vulnerable to practices associated with modern slavery, particularly within temporary labour, subcontracted services, and certain imported goods.

Zero-Tolerance Policy on Modern Slavery

We operate a clear zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking in all forms. This applies to our own operations and to all parties with whom we have business relationships, including suppliers, subcontractors, and other third parties. Any involvement in, or turning a blind eye to, forced labour, debt bondage, servitude, human trafficking, or exploitation of vulnerable individuals is strictly prohibited.

We expect all employees and workers engaged by Man with Van Putney to uphold this commitment and to act immediately if they suspect any risk of modern slavery. Any confirmed breach of this policy by an employee, contractor, or supplier may result in disciplinary action, contract termination, or reporting to the relevant authorities.

Supplier Standards and Audits

We are progressively embedding anti-slavery standards into our supplier management practices. Our approach includes requiring suppliers to confirm their compliance with applicable labour laws and to demonstrate that they do not tolerate forced or compulsory labour, child labour, or human trafficking in their own operations or supply chains.

For higher-risk suppliers, such as labour agencies or suppliers operating in sectors or regions with known labour risks, we may conduct additional due diligence. This can include requesting documentation relating to recruitment practices, right to work checks, wage payments, working hours, and evidence of worker protections.

Where appropriate and proportionate, we reserve the right to conduct audits, either announced or unannounced, to assess compliance with our expectations on modern slavery and ethical conduct. Suppliers are expected to cooperate fully with any audit and to implement corrective actions promptly where issues are identified.

Reporting Channels and Whistleblowing

We encourage all employees, agency workers, contractors, and suppliers to report any concerns related to modern slavery, human trafficking, or other serious ethical breaches. Concerns may include indicators such as withholding of passports, restriction of movement, debt bondage, threats or intimidation, or evidence that workers are not free to leave their employment.

Reports can be made to any line manager or to senior management within Man with Van Putney. Individuals raising concerns are encouraged to provide as much information as possible so that we can investigate effectively. We are committed to treating all reports seriously, investigating them promptly, and taking appropriate action where necessary.

We will not tolerate victimisation or retaliation against anyone who raises a concern in good faith about modern slavery or related abuses, even if that concern is not ultimately substantiated.

Training and Awareness

We are working to increase awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff and key suppliers. This includes briefing relevant employees on how to recognise potential signs of exploitation, the importance of responsible recruitment and employment practices, and the internal channels available for raising concerns.

Management responsible for procurement, supplier relationships, and workforce planning are particularly encouraged to understand and apply our anti-slavery standards, to challenge potential risks, and to seek guidance where needed.

Monitoring, Annual Review, and Continuous Improvement

We are committed to reviewing and improving our approach to tackling modern slavery on an ongoing basis. Each year, senior management will review this statement, assess the effectiveness of the measures in place, and consider additional steps to strengthen our controls and due diligence activities.

The annual review will take into account any reported incidents, audit findings, feedback from workers and suppliers, changes in legislation, and emerging best practice within the logistics and transport sector. Where gaps are identified, we will develop and implement an action plan aimed at reducing risk and enhancing our preventative measures.

This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement has been approved by the management of Man with Van Putney and will be updated at least annually to reflect our continuing commitment to ethical business conduct and the protection of human rights within our operations and supply chains.
